Volunteering just 5-10 hours a month can change a young person’s life!

It is fun, simple and rewarding! It is as easy as showing a young lady the value of self-worth; making sound decisions, how to acquire basic computer skills, the importance of being well-rounded, having a meal with them, attending a cultural trip….

We’ve learned that being someone special to a child doesn’t take much more than that. But the impact is huge—for both of you!

Volunteer Process

To Get Started, Prospective Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Completion of a formal written application
  2. A criminal history record check and child abuse clearance
  3. At least two references
  4. An in-person interview
  5. A professional assessment of their appropriateness to volunteer with a child
  6. An orientation and training process that outlines the individualized needs of a young lady and provides information and resources on how to encourage the healthy development of a child. PLEASE NOTE: First Training Session is with the United Way entitled: ABCs to Mentorship
  7. Ensures an on-going commitment to being consistent, motivated, energized and innovative, a team-player, engaging, flexible, resourceful, maintaining integrity and professionalism while interacting with the young ladies we serve.
